This has been a long time coming, thank god school is over for me~
I’ve always been a fan of bugs (certain bugs) and have not a single bug character in my armada. @ n @ On furaffinity, there is an artist by the handle of WhiteMantis, that has the most beautiful and elegant bug characters I’ve ever seen - and seeing her’s really gave me inspiration for finally getting pencil to the paper.
I love moths, seriously, they are the fuzziest little cuties! ; u ; They have to be one of my favorite types on insects not only for their variety in appearance, but because of what amazingly designed creatures they are. I eventually settled on moth being the type of insect after going through a list of other favorites. Honestly, I think the moth suits me best (and a few others thought so too)!
So here is my moth persona! I gave her pretty close to my real life body type and proportions, my haircut, round chunky face, and giant boobs. I’m still going to tinker with her design more, but as far as initial concepts go - I’m really happy with this!

My half of a character design trade with Iceheartt~
He made me a lovely unicorn girl that I just adore, so I decided (after prodding him) to do up a nice kitsune for him! Az wanted one thing and that was specifically seven tails - which is no problem in my book! Thus, Shigeru was born! :D He’s a lovely creature if I do say so myself~ *eyebrow waggle*

I started this piece for the Boys of Sin group here on tumblr and once again school consumed my life and I just wasn’t able to finish it. :c So here’s Greed being…. Greed. XD Sitting on a giant pile of gold coins, covered in jewelry, smoking a cigarette in a fancy holder - oh yeah, he’s totes classy.

And another wip~
I’ve always adored FireofAnubis’s character, Caspian. His design is just so lovely with his subdued colors and those wings and horns~ *gush* I’d been really wanting to draw him for Anubis, and I had a most wonderful idea! 8D So I started sketching a few days later…
She drew me a wonderful birthday gift last year of Cas and my character, Itarah - http://fireofanubis.deviantart.com/art/Nara-209247809 and I’m still so taken with it! So what better way to draw Caspian than by making a sort of continuation of the picture she drew~ So here is a wip of Itarah accepting the flowers from her admirer shyly and being aderpable. = u =

One of the countless works in progress on my hard drive~
After seeing Rio last year, I was SUPER inspired to try my hand at some colorful birds (and birds in general). I haven’t really drawn a lot of avians before and I realized I don’t have enough bird characters…. and I somehow didn’t have a gryphon! Appalled with myself, I took that inspiration from Rio and sketched out this pretty boy~
This is Chana, a Rainbow (Catalina) Macaw/Black Panther (Leopard) gryphon! I love the leopard variant of black panther and wanted to use those lovely rosette patterns to my advantage and draw the bright macaw colors down onto the dark fur. I love contrasting colors like that, and it works really well in my opinion with Chana!
Hopefully I’ll be finishing this soon @ u @

My second project for my Media Installation class this past semester.

For the particular assignment we were required to use an Arduino to create something to engage the viewer - be it with sound, visual queue, or something else. My initial concept couldn’t be done since the supplies in the 3D Illustration Lab were limited.

But the second concept worked just as well in my opinion and I’m happy with the result! What you see here is a heart made out of sculpy over a foil and masking tape armature. The two large arteries at the top are hollow to allow the LEDs and other wires to stick out like veins. The heart was then painted in several layers of acrylic to look like a semi-fresh specimen before being placed into the antiqued mason jar with clear floral resin. Fun fact, I went antiquing with a friend to get props and parts for this project! Very very good idea~

Before pouring the resin in I mixed in some yellow ochre watercolor from a tube to get a nasty gunky liquid effect and was pleasently surprised that it actually worked! Once everything had set and hardened the LEDs were hot glued in and the coding for them to blink/fade was written onto the Arduino with my professor’s help. Though… not everything went accordingly. In the end I had to seek out help from my friend’s boyfriend, John, who soldered some wires and rigged a new LED for me since the one that I bought apparently was dead. He’s getting a batch of brownies for helping me tremendously~

After completion, the heart joined my automaton in the gallery space along with some other student work. I sadly didn’t get pictures of it in the gallery and recreated the “scene” here in my apartment for some proper photos. Definitely must say I want to try working with an Arduino again, even if I’m terrible at it~ XD

A short video of my automaton, Breagan, in action~

For information on his construction, please view this post - http://padmabhujaga.tumblr.com/post/22717773641/

After several months of work, and being in a gallery for a few days I can FINALLY post this guy~

This is Breagan (you can see him here alongside his companion, Brenya - http://thequestforlions.tumblr.com/post/18340897715 ), an “oil slicked” coyote spirit. I use the term oil slicked loosely to describe his appearance. When Breagan “emerges” from the darkness he resembles a black sludge puddle that begins to form a sinewy, gooey, fleshy, skull-head yote.

This piece was a project for my Media Installation class this final semester, and the first project at that. The assignment was to create an automaton that either worked without the aid of human hand or an interactive automaton (like something that winds up or has a crank). This was the first time in my life I’ve ever done a piece like this, let alone one of this caliber (even if he’s technically considered simple).

His inner structure consists of a wooden base held together with wood glue and wood screws, a 2rpm disco ball motor, 1/16” Williams rod constructed into a hook and catch, foil for the resin to adhere to in a puddle form, and floral wire to create the form around the base. His gruesomely fetching outsides are made of sheets of latex skin, copious amounts of latex drenched yarn, hot glue drizzle, resin drippings, pools of resin, matted faux fur, and topped off with black acrylic paint.

Overall, I’m really pleased with the way he turned out! ; u ; He now lives comfortably by an end table in my apartment spreading his creepiness day in and out~

Check out the video of him complete and in action - http://youtu.be/91HhXg8s870

My dear followers….

I apologize in advance for the torrent of posts that are about to hit your dash. . _ . Now that I’m done with college, I can actually post work that’s been in queue for a while now….

somaticsilence asked:

You have beautiful work :) What do you prefer to use for sketches?

Thank you very much! ; u ;

I don’t really have a preference lol! I usually just sketch with whatever I might have on hand~ A lot of the things I use sometimes are markers, colored leads, carbon leads, pens, and mechanical pencils with graphite lead.
